My Irish Painting Showing

Fri Apr 4, 2008, 8:27 AM
Sami has formated my Irish painting to music.
You can see them on Youtube Here's the link [link]

Because some people asked & I never got around to posting anything publically:

We didn't have any of our relatives, neighbors, or friends show up, but we still managed to have a really nice crowd. What was esp. nice was that everyone who came was there to SEE the painting not out of friendship as none of them new me (us).
When things started to slow down a bit the lady who is in charge of the Library Art Promotion went to the Art Gallery that was having a major juried event & started to spread the word "Have you been by the Library to see the incredible Irish paintings?" & soon we had a large crowd show up. Time just flew by & we were busy to 'til was quitting time.
Originally this showing was suppose to be for just one evening, but because several people asked the librarian how long the display would be up as they wanted to bring parents, friends, spouses etc. to see the art, the librarian decided at the last minute to keep the display up for a full week instead of the 4 hrs. allotted.
We were very happy not to have to pack everything up that night esp. as I still had to go home & fix supper. In all we displayed 31 paintings/drawings & 1 sculpture. "Celtic Crosses" &
"The Gathering" were painted after the display.

Many people were fascinated learning about the wild orchid that grow in the seemingly empty lunar landscape of the Burren. I could have sold many art cards that night, had i been better prepared.
The painting "Ballydwane Point", "Roseleen's Camellias" were a big hit as was the "Rose Colored Cottages" which truly surprised me.

Would like to thank my foster daughter Mary for the Irish tea & shortbread we served at the showing. Unfortunately, she had to go back to Ireland a few days before the show but it was great seeing her again. She kindly restocked our dwindling supply of Irish goodies.

Note: This was a showing, not a sale. The painting were only on display.

Everyone will buy my seemingly innocent toys and pay their hard earned money for them!

So then the toys will rise up and destroy them?

I love your slideshow! You have a many great irish works! The music is a really cool, it reminds me about a middle ages, knights.... I got a many good feelings from it! Amazing works with a moon! By the way in Russian the moon sounds as a LUNA:)

"Luna" is Spanish for moon.
The music is by a Scandinavian band but the minute I heard this song, I could visualize scenes of Ireland. I thought it made sense that someone not Irish, like me, could sound so Irish.
Thank you for your kind words.

"Untitled" by Michael Hartnett
He will say "Come to me, you drunk
you weakling and you child of shame;
out of the depths to which you've sunk
come to me and speak my name."
And then, one man of commonsense
will say "Why do you call this man?"
"Because he, more then once,
disbelieving, called my name,
but you, who never knew despair
who always held Heaven in your hand,
you will never understand,
I call him to my peace
because he cried and raved,
because he, many times,
stood up and braved
loss, loneliness and guilt of crimes;
and I call him to my peace
because he did not believe
he was worthy to be saved.
